Disclaimer right off the bat : everyday is obviously NOT a holiday. Life is not always a Party. Sometimes life sucks. But that is exactly why I’m calling this blog : “Every Day is a Holiday” because we need to find and celebrate the good times we DO have in life. And not only the “official holidays”..the everyday special times in between. The little , yet not so little joys that surround us.
I learned this lesson early around the table in a big Italian family where just plain old Sundays were huge celebrations. And much of the time growing up, those celebrations , big and small , were in the kitchen. There’s a scene in the movie Moonstruck where the Cher character comes home, walks over to her dad in the livingroom and says she has news. He looks at her with a serious look and says “Let’s go to the kitchen”. And that is an unwritten rule in an Italian family : the table is the place for news, for sharing, for celebrating.
So yes this blog will have a fair amount of “Lessons from the Table”. Cooking and entertaining are passions of mine. So there will be posts on both. But I am also a lover of travel, fashion, movies, books, music, pop culture, ….my husband of 44 years… and a host of other topics and not necessarily in that order. None of which I claim to be an expert on,(except perhaps the husband of 44 years ) , but I do know what I love and what brings me joy.
So here’s to sharing and celebrating life’s joys and adventures!
